Heather Mongilio is a site editor at ARLnow.com, a hyperlocal news site covering Arlington County, Virginia. She is former editor-in-chief of The Eagle, the student-run newspaper at American University. Heather previously interned with the Breaking News department of USA TODAY, where she covers national news and edits wire articles. She also spent a summer working for the American Psychological Association's Monitor on Psychology, where she wrote stories pertaining to psychologist, advancements in psychology and topics affecting psychology graduate students. Heather will be a senior at American University, located in Washington, D.C. She is double majoring in journalism and psychology. She currently wants to pursue a health writing career to tie both of her majors.
Heather previously worked as the managing editor of News at The Eagle and previously held the positions of administration and local news editor, news assistant and Student Government beat reporter. Heather also interned at the Carroll County Times in Westminster, Maryland as the Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association intern. During the summer before her sophomore year, Heather interned with the Communications Department at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
